by Scott Lenz, PCC
On March 13, 2019 – which seems like a lifetime ago in the midst of a pandemic, rampant wildfires and unprecedented socio-political upheaval – I wrote for this blog about leaving Los Angeles and returning “home” to Martinez, CA, to work part time for the company that my beloved grandfather founded in 1962.
Well now I am writing again to talk about the departure of our long-time sales manager Christina, who recently moved to the tiny town of Florence, Oregon: population 9100, about an hour west of Eugene – smack dab in the middle of the state’s Pacific coast. Florence has a lighthouse: that’s how quaint it is. Christina moved there to be closer to her family, and we here at PCC will miss her dearly and wish her all the best in the future.
But, as they say: when one door closes … another one opens. Christina’s exit means that I will be assuming her role as sales manager. So, 50 years after I first “worked” at PCC – driving into Mt. Vernon, NY with my grandfather at age 6 to “stock and file”: a/k/a draw pictures and sing songs for the ladies in the office – I will finally be full-time (pause for laughter).
I am excited to embark on this new chapter, and though I know I can never replace Christina’s girl-next-door charm, her extremely loud car – and her incessantly squeaky printer (think flute solo from “California Dreamin”), I will do my very best to provide the same personalized customer care that she made legendary. I greatly appreciate the support of my co-workers, and am particularly thankful for our new office mascot, Delrina (pictured).
I look forward to learning and growing in my new position – and also to communicating (via phone or email) with all of our wonderful and loyal customers. Thank you.
